We are often asked what we think about blockchain, the technology behind bitcoin and ethereum. We have yet to see a legitimate application for which blockchains are an appropriate solution. The technology is complex with fundamental limitations in accountability and capacity. It’s also potentially environmentally disastrous. When used for payment systems, there are crucial regulatory challenges.
